Something for you...

I Don't believe it - it actually is there ˆ Watch out for our Government!

This is scary.
Check your Driver's License I definitely removed mine. I suggest you do the same. Now you can see anyone's Driver's License on the Internet, including your own! I just searched for mine and there it was...picture and all!
Thanks Homeland Security! Go to the web site, and check it out. It's unbelievable!!! Just enter your name, city and province or state to see if yours is on file. After your license comes on the screen, click the box marked 'Please Remove.' This will remove it from public viewing, but not from law enforcement. Please notify all your friends so they can protect themselves too. Believe me they will thank you for it.

McCain Votes Against Waterboarding Ban... based on White House veto?

See this article.

Mr. McCain, a former prisoner of war, has consistently voiced opposition to waterboarding and other methods that critics say is a form torture. But the Republicans, confident of a White House veto, did not mount the challenge. Mr. McCain voted “no” on Wednesday afternoon.

and a zing from the article:
John McCain: He was against waterboarding before he was for it.

Wrong Joe?

A fact-check article on RP that seems to fall short... you decide

Personally I particularly like the attitude on page 5 on feedback from RP supporters to an article about RP... an 'Introduction to Logic'
1. If it is Thursday, then I have to go to work.
2. It is not Thursday.
3. Therefore I do not have to go to work.

Here is a breakdown of the article. And another.

Some comments on the article:

Well, finally an article in the national media about Dr. Ron Paul. No or little mention of his life. Doctor, veteran, 10 term U.S. Congressman, married 51 years to the same woman, No mention of the endorsements made from those in economics and academia. Hardly any mention of the culture that has sprung up around the American message of freedom which originates from the American constitution. Music, radio stations and programsprograms

1: please show a quote where Paul refers to the NAU as a "secret conspiracy". Are you so naive as to believe that business giants have not considered the benefits of a North American Union? Of course they have, you moron.

2: Our "empire". There is so much info to support that we are spending more than a Trillion dollars overseas. When was the last time that our government stuck to the budget? We spend billions on projects that Americans never get to know about. I want you to go listen to everything Paul has ever said. He has said "we spend a trillion dollars overseas" but when talking about cutting he has always said "we could save hundred of billions of dollars". You took Paul out of context and put words in his mouth. You should be so ashamed. I wish you had the nerve to try and spout your uneducated, false propaganda to my face, you piece of sh!t.

3: Reagan. Reagan talked the talk .. he did not walk the walk. Reagan said some kind words about Ron Paul. Where is the fault in quoting him? It in no way affirms that Paul re-endorses Reagan. He has, on several occasions, during this campaign sited his disappointment with Reagan never changing the size and scope of government. Reagan???s words were an inspiration to many .. Paul wants to bring to light that his actions did not match.

Ron Paul's views on the issues here mentioned have been distorted or taken out of context. He has answered many of these attacks during interviews and debates; therefore, the writer should refer to his answers before writing such attacks toward him.

Ron Paul has never referred to the NAFTA superhighway as a secret conspiracy (he was asked about this highway during a CNN YouTube debate [it would have done a lot of good for the writer to listen to his response]). NAFTA is no conspiracy - nor is it a secret. It's fact. You may want to write off Glenn Beck and many others as quacks and odd balls for also researching NAFTA and coming to find the same factual information. The NAU is also real - and it is recorded fact that Mr. Bush and Mr. Clinton have signed deals toward a North American Union. All it takes is research to easily find this information from credible and reliable sources. The former president of Mexico was interviewed recently on Larry King Live and made mention of the NAU. There's no secret... there's just people like the writer here who try (for some reason) to convince people against the truth. I find such journalism to be quite odd and quite interesting.

Ron Paul Statement on Washington, Louisiana and Kansas Results

RP statement

February 12, 2008

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA – Republican presidential candidate and Texas Congressman Ron Paul issued the following statement regarding the results of Saturday’s Republican contests:

“As the results of this weekend have made clear, many Republican voters are not satisfied with our party’s likely candidate for president, John McCain.

“Voters rejected him in Kansas and Louisiana. Even in Washington State, where McCain appears to have won a plurality, over seventy percent of voters felt another candidate better represented them, including 21 percent who caucused for me.

“This is why my run for the Republican nomination will not end. The principles I stand for – limited government, non-interventionism, respect for individual rights, and strict adherence to the Constitution – have a long and proud tradition in the Republican Party.

“As long as my supporters continue to support my campaign, I will not leave Republicans who have yet to vote without the ability to choose a candidate who holds these fundamental Republican values.”

RP Campagin Update - Storm The Capital!

"If you promote liberty, liberty promotes peace and peace promotes prosperity.”

A different view on RP @ CPAC

Ron Paul Finds Following at CPAC

Ron Paul, the unconventional Libertarian-Republican presidential hopeful, rounded out the first day of CPAC. Paul spoke after both John McCain and Mitt Romney. Romney’s speech ended his campaign.

Paul’s speech drew a large group of young conservatives to the Regency Ballroom at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. Paul, who is often compared to Democrat candidate Barack Obama for his ability to draw the youth vote, has stayed afloat in the race with the help of dedicated followers who have helped him raise millions of dollars and flooded the internet with his name.

Paul’s schtick is an old but a solid one. He’s run as a strict constitutionalist -- and in fact was introduced as “the only one whose campaign platform is the Constitution of the United States.”

Frontrunner John McCain preceded Paul’s speech so many conference goers stayed the length of the two sessions. The contest is now between McCain, Paul and Mike Huckabee -- each of whom have received much criticism from the conservative establishment. Neither Paul nor Huckabee has a chance of catching McCain, the presumptive nominee.

Paul finds support from the Libertarian wing of the conservative movement, but his views on foreign policy -- which is to pull troops out now -- has riled those who want to win in Iraq. Paul’s claims that America was attacked on 9/11 because “we were over there first” have earned the hardened disposition of many Republicans.

Loud screams and applause followed Paul’s introduction, which was, “Any Dr. Ron Paul fans in the house?” No other presidential candidate was introduced this way. For better or worse, this is a different kind of candidate.

Paul boasted that he was the only presidential candidate -- Republican or Democrat -- who has never voted for a tax increase.

“We must maximize individual liberty and minimize government power in all that we do,” Paul said, adding that if we followed the rule of law in the constitution, we could “repeal the 16th amendment.”

“Conservatives….have drifted a long way from positions we used to hold -- of limited government,” said Paul. “If we continue to do what we are doing, we will have a financial crisis.”

He emphasized our dependence on China and Saudi Arabia, calling the United States the “greatest debtor” in the world. Similarly, he spoke on the de-value of the dollar and said young audiences are interested in monetary politics for the first time in years -- because they recognize the “monetizing of debt.”

On his opponents, he reminded the audience that John McCain was a friend of tax raiser and former Senator Tom Daschle, Ted Kennedy on immigration, Russ Feingold on campaign finance, and Al Gore on global warming.

“The answer is found in fiscal conservatism -- live within our means,” said Paul. “As long as a government can stir up fear -- real or not -- people are asked to do one thing --sacrifice their liberties.”

He broached the terrorism subject next, saying that “Since 9/11 -- there is absolutely never a need to sacrifice any of your personal liberties to be safe.” Many conservatives agree with the “warrant-less searches” and other intelligence-gathering methods, unlike Paul.

Paul covered a lot of ground, including the Right to Life movement. A medical doctor, Paul’s pro-life stance is not always welcomed in the Libertarian wing, but as on all he issues, he brooks no opposition by those who disagree. “If you are going to protect liberty, you have to protect the life of the unborn just as well,” he said.

A staunch supporter of the Second Amendment, he took the feds to task, saying, “You take the guns from criminals and put the criminals in jail…You don’t take the guns away from law abiding citizens.”

But, here the conservative themes ended. He next claimed America has implemented a “de facto” draft to sustain a war we shouldn’t be fighting. Despite the establishment opposition to his stance on the war, he pointed out that his campaign has received more money from the military in the last quarter than “all the other Republican and Democrat candidates put together.”

John McCain has been criticized for saying America could be in Iraq for “one hundred years” and many promote the idea that we are “fighting over there so we do not have to fight here.” However, Paul believes America is not threatened by any kind of military operation from abroad. He said America has “twice as many weapons as all the other countries put together” and no one will attempt to invade on our soil.

He launched into a typical Paul tirade, claiming Osama bin Laden likes American foreign policy because it is “tremendous incentive for him to raise his group of al-Qaeda.” He reminded the audience that bin Laden and Saddam Hussein were both American allies at one point, but we have wrecked the agenda by “not following our Constitution that gives us no authority to be the policemen of the world.”

He ended with this: “If you promote liberty, liberty promotes peace and peace promotes prosperity.”

Paul’s campaign has already failed, as he has never even reached the popularity or numbers of Mitt Romney, the candidate many had hoped to defeat John McCain. Romney dropped out on Thursday. Paul will not be the next president or the next Republican nominee (or vice presidential candidate), so it is unclear why he continues this campaign.

A perspective on the RP Revolution

Newfound optimism

I am a 30-year-old who, for the first time in her life, donated to a political campaign. Not just money, but time and energy.

I used to be cynical, e.g. my vote doesn't count, the establishment keeps us down, etc. I recently realized that my vote does count; I do have a voice that can change things. And although the establishment is large, it has cracks.

I am voting for Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, because Paul cured my apathy. I wear a Ron Paul button, I wave signs in my neighborhood, I blog and comment online and I talk to everyone who asks about him.

Other supporters and I are armed with information about Paul so people can make up their own minds. His record stands alone in Congress as a man who has stood up to the establishment for longer than I've been alive. He's proven to be honest and stick to his principals. Check his record: "no" on the war, "no" to the Patriot Act, "no" to tax increases. It's all there, in black and white.

I am no longer a Democrat or Republican; my vote is for the person. From now on I will vote for what I believe in. No more "lesser of two evils."

We can make it happen, we can change this country. Rise up, fellow Americans, and show the world that we will not be cowed by fear. We are America, we are the people, we are here and we will be heard.

Power back to the people. Vote Ron Paul for president.

RP Message

February 8, 2008

Whoa! What a year this has been. And what achievements we have had. If I may quote Trotsky of all people, this Revolution is permanent. It will not end at the Republican convention. It will not end in November. It will not end until we have won the great battle on which we have embarked. Not because of me, but because of you. Millions of Americans -- and friends in many other countries -- have dedicated themselves to the principles of liberty: to free enterprise, limited government, sound money, no income tax, and peace. We will not falter so long as there is one restriction on our persons, our property, our civil liberties. How much I owe you. I can never possibly repay your generous donations, hard work, whole-hearted dedication and love of freedom. How blessed I am to be associated with you. Carol, of course, sends her love as well.

Let me tell you my thoughts. With Romney gone, the chances of a brokered convention are nearly zero. But that does not affect my determination to fight on, in every caucus and primary remaining, and at the convention for our ideas, with just as many delegates as I can get. But with so many primaries and caucuses now over, we do not now need so big a national campaign staff, and so I am making it leaner and tighter. Of course, I am committed to fighting for our ideas within the Republican party, so there will be no third party run. I do not denigrate third parties -- just the opposite, and I have long worked to remove the ballot-access restrictions on them. But I am a Republican, and I will remain a Republican.

I also have another priority. I have constituents in my home district that I must serve. I cannot and will not let them down. And I have another battle I must face here as well. If I were to lose the primary for my congressional seat, all our opponents would react with glee, and pretend it was a rejection of our ideas. I cannot and will not let that happen.

In the presidential race and the congressional race, I need your support, as always. And I have plans to continue fighting for our ideas in politics and education that I will share with you when I can, for I will need you at my side. In the meantime, onward and upward! The neocons, the warmongers, the socialists, the advocates of inflation will be hearing much from you and me.

Sincerely,

Ron

Washington State Caucus Update

Washington State Update - 02/06/2008
Caucus: This Saturday, 12:30pm. More info: http://ronpaulwa.com
INVALID BALLOTS
Q: Why is the Secretary of State saying that many of the ballots they've received are "invalid?"
A: A lot of the ballots were invalid because they were not properly marked. You must check the "Republican" box on the outer envelope. Pay attention when filling out your ballot, and read the yellow highlighted instructions.
REPUBLICAN "MEMBERSHIP"
Q: Can I vote for Ron Paul, and attend the caucus, even though I'm not a "member" of the Republican Party.
A: YES. Any registered voter can sign the oath, vote on the ballot, and attend the caucus on Saturday - no matter what your party affiliation is.
CAUCUS REPORTS
Q: Are we keeping track of the delegates elected?
A: Yes. We need you to print out the caucus worksheet: http://ronpaulwa.com/worksheet and have one Ron Paul supporter in your precinct fill it out at the caucus. Follow the instructions on the worksheet to report your caucus results.
CAUCUS STRATEGY
Q: What is our strategy at the caucus this Saturday?
A: You show up early, elect delegates, stay for whole meeting, and report back to us afterward.
1. Read the caucus instructions on our website ( http://ronpaulwa.com ), so you'll be ready for Saturday.
2. Join the conference call 9pm tonight (and again on Friday, 9pm): 605-475-8500 (code: 5092984). Archived conference call: Part one: http://ronpaulwa.com/part1 , Part two: http://ronpaulwa.com/part2
3. Dress like a conservative, no Ron Paul shirts. Keep your Ron Paul button in your pocket at first.
4. Watch for suspicious or inappropriate activities, and report them immediately to 206-801-0161
CAMPAIGN STRATEGY
Q: I heard on the news that we don't have many delegates. Is that true?
A: We have a healthy amount of delegates. Ron Paul has taken 2nd place in five states. Even in states where another candidate won, like West Virginia, we've been able to negotiate with other campaigns to get some of those delegates. This doesn't get reported on the news. In the primary, the goal is not to "win" states - it is to elect delegates! That's what we're doing, and there are still 25 primaries to go. Super Tuesday was only the beginning. We have to run the entire distance to win.
WASHINGTON STATE
Q: The caucus is this Saturday. What should I be doing to help us win?
A: It's time to rally our fellow Ron Paul supporters, and help them get to the caucus.
1. Come to the call center, and help make "Get Out The Vote" calls to other Ron Paul supporters! Call 206-518-3939, and tell Jeremiah that you're coming. The call center is in the University District of Seattle, right off I-5.
2. Re-call your friends and family (go through your phone's contact list) - Find out which of them support Ron Paul, convince them to attend their local caucus, and help them find the location. Re-email your entire address book - Ask them to respond if they support Ron Paul. Re-visit the supporters you've identified in your neighborhood. Make sure every Ron Paul supporter knows where their local caucus meeting is. You can help find find it at: http://ronpaulwa.com/locations .
3. Remember, even if they cannot attend the caucus, someone else in their precinct can nominate them as a delegate, and they can go to the county convention.

And the answer will be Ron Paul.

“What other candidate ran that year and launched the movement that has dominated national politics for the last generation?”

Doug Wead made this post on Ron Paul.
"But in the process, Ron Paul showed us, that we have lost our way. We are no longer conservatives. We are fighting for power not for principles. We have become corrupted by the process and the only way back is to retrace our steps and find all the things we discarded along he way."

Delegate Counts

Delegate count is very important in the states that are proportional instead of winner take-all.

Can we get to the delegate counts already? I think we saw in the last presidential election that popularity doesn't carry the day...

example:
Romney wins Alaska, gaining 12 delegates, but Paul still gets 5 delegates.
Romney won ND gaining 8 delegates, again Paul got 5 delegates
Obama 'wins' Delaware, gaining 9 delegates... Clinton 'lost' getting 8 delegates

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23034102/

Dr. Ron Paul

I like that Dr. Ron Paul sticks to his 'constitutional' guns, however he needs to focus on the positive outcomes of his strategies.

The Economy
Dr. Ron Paul statement from WV:
"When the federal government runs out of gold and don't have anymore to spend, the government borrows and when the government can't borrow, it runs the printing presses, and when they do that, the value of the currency goes down."
I believe this type of statement labels Ron Paul a 'crackpot'. Most people don't care about printing presses, and currency not being tied to the amount of gold or assets a country has (hehe who is going to independently audit that :p )
It's a long leap to understand how his envisioned economy will make things better for everyone. He should provide concrete examples of success in the US and abroad. People are concerned and or misunderstand when he suggests things like removing the IRS, federal education, homeland security etc.

The War
Letter of Marque:
"Letters of Marque have been used at various times in history and it's one avenue that I'd like to see explored in the War on Terror and stop this wasteful spending overseas."
Again Dr. Ron Paul throws out a large statement without proper context. The statement 'wasteful' spending puts the War on Terror in a very negative light, which is tied to the lives lost on 9/11 and the continued lives lost in Iraq.
Additionally 'letter of Marque' have a lot of meaning to them that is not what Dr. Ron Paul intended. A letter of Marque is not, after all, a license to kill.
"These terrorists are dangerous. I'd like to see Letters of Marque granted to anyone willing to go after and hunt down Al Qaida."
Dr. Ron Paul presented this idea back in 2001 (again a policy derived from the constitution). Some may say just because it's in the constitution doesn't mean it's a great idea for today. International issues and laws aside, how would this be implemented? Why is the CIA incapable of this? Well the CIA are a very official representative of the US. Unofficial representatives that met some criteria, could move more freely in some other countries, with the letter of marque giving added support from the country in question. Again, the letter of marque would not be the pirates/privateers of old. Back then, the countries were in full out war... how often has the US declared war? Anyway the point is it's a very grey area at best that should be clarified for the general public before you toss your support into it Dr. Paul =)
