I am a 30-year-old who, for the first time in her life, donated to a political campaign. Not just money, but time and energy.
I used to be cynical, e.g. my vote doesn't count, the establishment keeps us down, etc. I recently realized that my vote does count; I do have a voice that can change things. And although the establishment is large, it has cracks.
I am voting for Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, because Paul cured my apathy. I wear a Ron Paul button, I wave signs in my neighborhood, I blog and comment online and I talk to everyone who asks about him.
Other supporters and I are armed with information about Paul so people can make up their own minds. His record stands alone in Congress as a man who has stood up to the establishment for longer than I've been alive. He's proven to be honest and stick to his principals. Check his record: "no" on the war, "no" to the Patriot Act, "no" to tax increases. It's all there, in black and white.
I am no longer a Democrat or Republican; my vote is for the person. From now on I will vote for what I believe in. No more "lesser of two evils."
We can make it happen, we can change this country. Rise up, fellow Americans, and show the world that we will not be cowed by fear. We are America, we are the people, we are here and we will be heard.
Power back to the people. Vote Ron Paul for president.
